Summer Sun: Family Flip Flops from the Flip Flop Shop

We’re all going on a Summer Holiday

Sing along with me, in true Cliff Richard style! In just under 2 weeks, we’re off to catch some summer sun, travelling long haul to Mauritius. And we can’t wait.

It’s quite a last minute decision to go, all centering around when the building team could be free to start our loft conversion, and so we took what the travel agent could give us, and we got a great deal too.  We knew there might be a possibility of going abroad in the May Half term, but when the builder gave us his dates for July and August, we knew we probably wouldn’t be able to get away then. So it’s now or never.

It means a frantic couple of weeks of kitting everyone out ready for summer. We had a huge sort out of the girls’ clothes and found, as with most years, they’d outgrown many things, and didn’t even have any footwear.

I’ve been hunting out a few bits online and we did a quick trip to town on Bank Holiday Monday with the kids to get a few essentials. It’s always easier when they’re with you isn’t it, when they can try things on? But they get bored, understandably, and once we’d done a coffee and muffin stop, followed by a few more shops, they were done.

So, I’ve been really grateful for my chats with the lovely people at the Flip Flop shop, who have kindly sent us all a new pair of flip flops, just in time for our trip. We all needed new ones – I wear them in the house in the summer, and the girls have either outgrown or lost their last ones! They are the staple summer footwear in our household.

I let the girls choose their own from the website. It’s interesting to see what styles and colours they go for.

Miss E, aged almost 11, won’t touch anything too girly or pink now, everything has to be ‘cool’. She went for a striking pair by Roxy, whilst Miss R, chose some Ipanema’s simply because she liked the colour. I’m also an Ipanema fan and wanted a sporty blue pair for the beach and home. The man of the house loves fabric flip flops and was well catered for on the site (I do love the men’s selection) and chose a pair of Gumbies that’s very him.

So our feet are all set for the beach. It took 10 minutes of choosing to ensure everyone was catered for – no trailing around different shops and websites; it was brilliant to have a great selection of styles all in one place. I loved the way it was easy to tell which colours were available in which sizes too and the prices were all very reasonable. Everything arrived within a few days, well packaged and in perfect order. And miraculously, they all fitted!

Now all we need is the sun.

Thank you to the Flip Flop shop for gifting the flip flops. All comments and opinions are genuine, honest and my own.
