So it’s almost the end of October. Halloween is calling, and so is my birthday. We’re in the middle of half term here and the girls are enjoying time with their grandparents for a few days. I’ve always loved this time of year. It can be a wrench leaving the summer behind but I find by the end of September I’m over that, and looking forward to all that Autumn brings.
A few years ago, we spent a half term holiday in the Lake District as a family and the found the scenery breathtaking. The leaves were changing colour and dropping from the trees. The sun shone and we took long, beautiful walks taking in everything that the area has to offer. I was reminded of that whilst driving through the Peaks the other day on my way to Macclesfield for a blogging day out.
But I know the change in season isn’t always favourable for some. A dear friend lost her Mum a few years ago at this time of year, and although Autumn was a wonderful season for her Mum, it’s now bittersweet for my friend. Her Mum loved fashion. She loved going to choose a new Winter coat and boots, having felt rather under dressed in the Summer. I know how she felt, as I’ve often felt the same. I love that the Autumn brings much more interesting fashion options, and with my birthday at the end of October, it’s always meant a few new fashion treats too.
So what am I looking forward to in fashion this Autumn?
Well firstly I’m really excited about a new pair of Ugg Boots that have been sitting in the cupboard since early Spring. A blogging opportunity left me with this lovely pair of Button Bailey boots that I can’t wait to wear. I have tried wearing them already but they’re just a bit too warm!
Secondly, as it’s my birthday I simply had to treat myself to a new coat. My girls have some lovely padded coats, and I really fancied trying one for myself. I think this one from Mango will be fantastic on the school run. I love the removable fur collar and the gold coloured trim. Hopefully it’s quite a smart version and as it’s filled with duck feathers, I’m thinking it will be quite warm too.
Next I’m a big fan of a few new jumpers for the Autumn and cooler weather. This year I’m loving this gorgeous Fox jumper from French Connection which looks stylish but is a bit fun too. For this time of year I don’t mind the shorter sleeves and then in the Winter you can team it with a layered top or even a crisp white shirt.
And then finally, I would love to treat myself to one of these Desigual dresses which I think are just lush! I love the bold, abstract print and would wear them for all kinds of occasions. Great with a pair of high heels, or some knee-length boots and my biker jacket. Ooh did someone hear it was my birthday, ahem!
So how about you? Do you love shopping for new clothes in the Autumn or are you more of a Summer fashion fan?
